Faith vs. Science

There is a new field called, Neurotheology. Dr. Andrew Newberg, author of "Why We Believe What We Believe," is working on ways to "Track how the human brain processes religion and spirituality. The question is, "Are humans hard-wired for faith?" My answer is Duh. First of all, I do not understand why scientist insist on trying to prove God scientifically. If he could be proven that way, then why would we need to have faith. Although, there is scientific proof that he exist, if we looked to science to verify God's existance, we would come up lacking everytime. I have a friend that always says that God is the ultimate scientist. I understand what she is attempting to say, but I still see it as an insult toward God. Scientist study. God is the one who created everything that they are studying. We can not question or argue with God. If he says something is true, it is true just because he said it. Not because we can or can't prove it. I get frustrated when people say and do things that attempt to pull God down to our level. Research is one thing, but to discount something because you can not prove it scientifically is dangerous. This is where a lot of people go astray. They are looking to man to try to explain God. God already told us in his word that his ways are higher than our ways. His thoughts are higher than are thoughts. Who can know the mind of God? I tell my friend all the time to turn off the television, shut down the computer and open up the word of God. Saints, we have got to learn to believe the word for ourselves. If we get into the word and really seek the knowledge therein, God will open our minds to the truth. But we have to really desire to KNOW the truth and not settle for man's version of it.

That's true. In my Senior Year of high school we were taught to always be strong in our faith and in Philosophy we were taught about Intelligent Design. Its about how every single thing was designed in such a specific way that it couldn't just have mutated that way. There must be a designer so intelligent to have thought of that and he couldn't have come from this world. I think you should look more into the topic of Intelligent Design because i think it will help you understand more.

I am sure that this intelligent design is a wonderful thing, but, like I stated, we as saints of God need to keep our focus on God's word. The Bible says that all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteous, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equiped for every good work, 2 Timothy 3:16.

Hi Rosie, I don't know about the specific study you are talking about but I have heard of these sorts of studies before and if it's the kind I'm thinking of Dr. Newberg is probably not trying to prove that God exists, he's probably trying to prove the opposite. Many evolutionists believe that we don't have much free will, that we are programmed through our DNA so that instincts decide what we believe and do. Basically they want to prove that evolution hard-wired us to believe in a God even if there is no such thing. I am a Christian though, and I do believe there is a God so I disagree with those kinds of theories.
