Ensiferum - Victory Songs  | |  Ensiferum is a finnish viking/fold metal band. I haven't heard much of the new album of Ensiferum, but I don't think it's as good as the first album or even Iron for that matter. Anyone else heard this record?

Metallideth (355) | 1 year ago |  I think that Victory Songs is on the same level as their previous releases musically, but their new singer (also the Norther singer, whose name I can't recall), isn't as good as their original singer, (whose name I can't remember, though I think it starts with a "J"). He's not bad, he's just not great.
He left Ensiferum and formed Wintersun, which has put out one self-titled album so far. There's supposed to be another one this summer. Wintersun's music is a bit more somber and serious than Ensiferum's, and not as upbeat, but it's very good.

| Metallideth (355) | 1 year ago | I actually just got a video of Wintersun. It was very good. It was suprising to see what Jari actually looked like for the first time. He has a powerful voice for a his size. The sound quality was great (well, they played excellently, but the sound at the beginning wasn't that great. It sounded like they kept adjusting the volumes of different instruments, because by the end, it was nearly perfect). | |

| | | 4. jormungand (73) | 9 months ago |  I think victory songs is nowhere near the first 2 albums. Tracks 4, 5 and 6 are the best ones in the album. I'm afraid Ensiferum will not be as good as their old times anymore, without Jari Mäenpää.
