| | I reckon that wood has to be the better option for a dog kennel as the plastic would make the dog sweat on the suface more and not let the dogs skin breathe especially after a good run or walk. Have a nice day from Deeeky. | | | | | | |

| | We use a big wooden dog house, complete with shingled roof for our large dog. We didn't like plastic because the openings tended to be small, and ventilation wasn't good. The plastic houses we saw sitting outside were so HOT from the sun, inside and out, that we were afraid it would be uncomfortable and could burn the pads of our dog's paws. The surface of the wood stays much cooler, more of the heat that does get to the wood stays outside, (big consideration in the Southern US), the opening is nice and big, and it looks like..well, a little house! Besides, wood houses tend to be more durable (use a wood sealer to protect it against water, and set it up with bricks under each of the corners to keep it off the ground). Plastic houses fade and get brittle after a while. Hope this helps!

| | I don't know about which one would be better. I have never used a wooden dog house before. I can recommend a good plastic one though! I have always used what is called a Dogloo, you can find them in just about all pet stores. These are the kind that are rounded at the top like an igloo. It will keep your dog warm in winter and cooler in the summer. I always put something in the bottom of the dog house in the winter time like hay, straw or cedar chips for better insulation on the bottom. Plus, the plastic is easier to keep clean and they come apart so you can clean the inside as well. I don't know about your dog but my Dalmatian Labrador cross sheds like mad and we have to hose out the inside every couple of months. Good luck! | | | | | | |
