Here's room for a heated debate--LOL. I'm a great die hard fan of both the Lord Of The Rings movies directed by Peter Jackson and Chronicles of Narnia directed by Andrew Adamson--my question who is the better director? In your opinion who interpreted the original books better--or do you think it's a tie.
A lot of fans of Tolkien bash Peter Jackson's movies...saying he really strayed from the books...the thing is in my opinion if Jackson had done the movies EXACTLY the way the books were, there would have been a lot of confusion, not to mention each movie would have probably been fifteen hours long!! In any event, while I'm a die-hard Tolkien fan, I think PJ did a great job of it.
As for Adamson--I think like Peter Jackson, he's short of a genius in how he interpreted the C. S. Lewis books--His expansion of the battle scene was terrific, since in the book it's only a casual mentioning that's only a few paragraphs long--to stretch out such a small scene in the book and to come up with such a spectacular scene in the movie is incredible
For me it's a tie then

Peter Jackson made a brilliant job of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy making three totally accessible films. I'd read the books many years ago and what I saw on the screen was as close to what I'd imagined as possible.
Adamson did a great job with The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and yes, I agree, the battle scene was terrific.
On balance, I would give the accolade to Peter Jackson though. His vision of Middle Earth brought Tolkein's work to a brand new audience.

Well, pyewacket (just how do you pronounce that?), Herr Jackson is the better.

I am in complete agreement with you. I think they both did a fantastic job. I loved the way they portrayed the books and wish they'd hit up some Harry Potter!! I agree if Jackson had went exactly like the book they would have been extremely long. I think he was justified in taking out the things he did. I loved all the LOTR's and The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. I just hope they keep Adamson for the rest of The Chronicles films too.
So I too think it's a tie.
