I grew up under the strict but benign mentorship of my father. He was a strict man who wanted me to grow up within the confines of our cultural prescription. He would always say, a man worth his salt must be kind, a stuggler and a generous person. He believed in altruism and taught us to be mindful of our neighbours plight. Today even though I do not necessarily follow all the ideas of my father, I see that meaningful living requires the sense of fellow feeling-this could be a silent resource in coping with life this hard world. So are Dads the best mentors?
