Are SUVs and full-size Trucks perpetuating the Iraq war?  email this discussion to a friend?

How do vehicles that waste gas affect our troops? Should those drivers be held responsible for their wasteful actions? Since our current Iraq war concerns securing our use of Middle Eastern oil, (as our exclusive drilling rights expired in 2000), do Americans who chose to drive gasoline-powered vehicles have a moral obligation to watch how much oil they actually use?

Well, seeing as the new government of Iraq is giving the Oil contracts to China, Indiana, Vietnam and Indonesia, I'd say it doesn't affect it at all. And no, we don't have a moral obligation to watch how much oil we use. In fact, I think we have an obligation to use our freedom to drive whatever car, truck, suv we want.
