Logic 900 car alarm  | | Hello I have a golf gti that was factory fitted with a logic 900 alarm system. Over the last 6 mnths car has for no other logical reason stop dead in it tracks,however the car does start again about an hour later. I did notice that after a heavy down pour the alarm siren started making a crackling noise so I turned the siren part of the alarm off. I most important info that I need is to troubleshoot what the alarm is trying to tell me,I do not have a manual on it or anything. Any suggestions would be welcomed

| | | | | | | | 1. sedel1027 (12392) | 4 years ago | Is this a new car? If so, you may just want to bring it to the dealership before your car is ruined. More likely than not, what ever is wrong is covered by the warranty and you would not be charged for the problem.
From what you described above, it seems like your car alarm has taken some water damage and this could be causing problems with your cars electrical system.
Does it normally just stall out after a rain storm? Or is is just random?

| baboo100 (1) | 4 years ago | Hello It is a 1996 model,so unfortunately cannot take it back.... Never has stalled in the rain except for the the time mentioned,it is a random thing.I took the car to a alarm guys and they said they could remove the alarm altogether,which is not ideal.
Is there any where I can get a manual on the alarm? Many thanks

sedel1027 (12392) | 4 years ago | I tried finding a manual for you and came up empty handed. Sorry! All the sites and forums I visted made it sound like there is no manual whatsoever and that the onyl people authorized to fix it is the Golf dealership. I also found out that this alarm as well as a few others are all custom fit - a regular alarm shop cannot fit it, only the delaership.

| charlie96080 (1) | 10 months ago | Logic Alarms are no longer supported by VW. The company went out of business some years ago( probably due to the pile of crap VW fitted to lots of GTIs). The internet reveals no support for these alarms and so the only advice ofered is to strip out the whole thing. By way of example, my local VW franchise simply threw away all the re-coding software and associated wiring. Amazing. Going back to the original post, the reason why your GTI would start an hour later was because after a while the alarm system went into a standby mode to save battery life, awaking if any sensor was disturbed or indeed if push button activation needed the system to wake up and disarm.A nightmare system, but inexcusable of VW just to disown it, and leave many owners with the headache. I still have my Golf and have come to live with my crazy alarm.
