'Empty Nest Syndrome '. What it is?

i'm not sure about this, but i believe 'Empty Nest Syndrome' happens to most women when their families leave. Usually, like your sister, it happens when their children leave the house.

Women, or mothers more specifically, feel that their role in the family is to take care of the kids. As we all know, the woman is the home maker. They busy themselves with taking care of the children's affairs. Now, when the children leave, the mother don't have anything to do anymore. She's lost and don't know her purpose anymore. All these years all she knew was how to be there for her children. But now her so-called-nest is empty, thus the name of the syndrome, she feels useless and gets depress. With the case of your sister, her husband is also not there to support her.

Her husband also has to understand that his wife's attitude does have a basis. He can be there for her and they should talk about it. Communication is always the key.
