Have you already killed someone in your mind? |
|
I have, several times in the past. I know that these are evil thoughts, but I couldn't control thinking that I have killed a certain person I truly hate at the time. I would do this as part of my defense mechanism, when I'm truly mad at someone. Instead of confronting, I would just kill the person in my mind, then I would feel better. Sometimes, my mind would cook up even gory details. It's just when someone told me that I should stop doing this, that I started avoiding having these thoughts.
What about you? Do you think this is bad? Have you or do you also do this?

1. cremechese (4503) | 3 years ago | Heavens no, lol. Actually that's kind of strange, because I've been really really angry before, of course. But my thoughts never have actually gone to killing anyone. I think I see so many murders on television those must act out any fantasies I would have had.

ag_abscruzmd (1846) | 3 years ago | I don't actually plan to act out the killing, of course, hehe. Just in my mind, then I would feel fine. Well, I guess you got what I meant. I didn't want to kill anyone in reality, so I do it in my mind only. Maybe I'm the one watching so many gory movies, and they give me the ideas even unconsciously. Thanks so much for the response!

2. mgmagana (2439) | 3 years ago | Well i don't actually kill someone, but i say if something were to happen to him i wouldn't be sad! He's about to go to iraq, now don't be fooled by him being in the army reserve, he did it because he wanted a reason to get away from his kids. He's not a good man.

ag_abscruzmd (1846) | 3 years ago | Geez..that's really bad. Anyway, I won't kill anybody, not in the life of me. That's why I just kill in my mind. It's a form of suppression, I guess. I would even feel guilty if something actually would happen to that person, no matter how mean he/she is, because I would feel that I caused it (because I willed it). And you know, the power of the mind. Thanks so much for the response!

mgmagana (2439) | 3 years ago | I know i say that now out of anger, but you never know when it actually happens.

ag_abscruzmd (1846) | 3 years ago | Yes, I do feel like we feel the same thing. I think instead of acting it out, we suppress it, and do it in our minds instead, then it's going to be over. Thanks for the response!

4. Strawberry_chaos (249) | 3 years ago | I do it lots. I've mentally killed people hundreds of times. I find it really helps me when im feeling very angry, especially if i imagine it vividly and with brutal, nasty details. I think its fine to do that. It isn't like you're thinking about really killing anyone, and it makes you feel better. so its a good thing to do. i used to have an old mattress which i'd stab with a knife while picturing it as being my enemy when i was feeling extremely upset. it really helped me get rid of my anger. of course, i'd never really kill anyone.
| |
| |
|
|
ag_abscruzmd (1846) | 3 years ago | I never have gone yet to the point of stabbing something (like a mattress as you said). At least you have a way of letting off your steam without hurting anybody. I have read from one article that it's actually healthy to picture killing someone in one's mind. Will try to find that again. I'm not sure, though, if it's a right thing to do. Thanks for the response!

5. LordGregoroftheSith (367) | 3 years ago | This is funny. I have, but it is very rare. I am constently getting annoyed with others. Sometimes to the point where I will graphically beat the living crap out of them, normally with some good heavy music playing:) Once, in a while, my beatings will turn into rage, and in my mind I will stomp their head in, or take something and crush their skull. Whatever, as long as they die:P Is it wrong?? HELL YES ITS WRONG!!! I know if it wasn't for the "law" I think almost everyone one time in their life would kill somebody. Me 2 or 3... or 10.:) Good topic, I wonder how many people will admit to doing this though, considering it is so morally wrong, that it is disturbing.

|
ag_abscruzmd (1846) | 3 years ago | I am actually aware that this is wrong (from a moral standpoint especially if I would be listening to my mom ranting about immorality). But then, I still did these. Your description is so vivid, and I could also remember one time thinking about bashing the head of my enemy (of course in my mind). It is indeed disturbing. Thanks for the response!

6. cdparazo (3945) | 3 years ago | I have never ever thought of killing someone even in my mind. Just the thought of it scares the hell out of me. I even avoid thinking bad things happening to that person for fear that it might come true. All things tangible is born first in our minds and I'm really afraid that I might be psycho or something. LOL. However, I have thought a lot of times of humiliating someone that I really don't like and it's usually through sarcastic words and I actually relish saying those words in my mind even if I can't really say it out loud.

ag_abscruzmd (1846) | 3 years ago | You don't think too much evil thoughts. Good for you, you can control that part of you. I hope I would develop a healthy mind like yours, and by this I mean I could control my mind to not think of extremely bad things that I could do to others. Thanks for the response!

7. whyaskq (5099) | 3 years ago | No matter how angry I am with a person, I will never want him dead or else I would not get any more targets to be angry with:P
I don't harbour evil thoughts of killing the person. I feel that you should stop having such thoughts, and you might never know, one day you will really kill. Whatever the mind can conceive, it can achieve.
Try to maintain positive thoughts, or maybe pray for the person you are angry with. Radiating loving-kindness is one very good way of cultivating one's compassion.

8. ChaJudLeoBit (778) | 3 years ago | I'm sure I've killed my husband's girlfriend many times. With my car, or watching her get hit by a train... But I try not to think like that. I'm taking the high road and asking God to change my heart towards her. I am working on forgiving her.

ag_abscruzmd (1846) | 3 years ago | I'm glad that you have chosen to "take the high road" and work at forgiving her. That's really something. It's really difficult to just forgive and forget. Thanks for the response!

ag_abscruzmd (1846) | 3 years ago | Don't worry, I'm not a killer in actual terms (just in my mind). Hehe. It's my defense mechanism when I am very angry at someone (like someone who had deceived me or had spread a very bad rumor which is untrue about me). I'm now trying to get rid of this impulse to think that I'm actually killing someone, because it's a bad thought (and honestly, don't be afraid of me, I'm not a bad person). Thanks for the response!

ag_abscruzmd (1846) | 3 years ago | I'm a Filipino working here in the U.S. (Philadelphia). I'm a full-time teacher. Today is Saturday, so I have more time for myLot. During weekdays, I just usually reply to my friends' discussions (I have turned my "notify on" to all of them) and if I would get to think of something to post, I would do it. Remember, when you post a topic, keep it trivial and simple. Discussions that require brainwork (sad to say) don't gather many responses. Your posts would be a classic example. Your post on Scarlett O'Hara is very good compared to the other trivial one. You know where the other one got you -- to the top discussion! Hehe.
