Victoria Beckham's Lukewarm Reception in the USA  

Yes I think one of the saddest things about the whole thing is that it makes her husband a bit of a laughing stock too and he is a talented footballer. I feel a bit sorry for him that she's always trying to grab the limelight and as you say, it makes her look like a fool! Yes she does too much to grab media attention which is half the problem. If she wasn't so hell bent on appearing in every single magazine that went to press, then she might get a bit of a break once in a while. As it is, she's an easy target for people to ridicule because her face is always plastered everywhere, thanks for your response. x (p.s. you're the only person I know who's admitted to buying her album)

Yes people are definitely over the Spice Girls and added to that, I understand she was the only one of that group that didn't manage to get to number one with any of her solo songs... I strongly feel she should take a back seat and concentrate on supporting her hubby (let's face it, she aint much good at the other stuff she's tried - although kudos to her for trying I suppose). She has 3 kids, maybe she can spend more time with them rather than have an army of nannies looking after them (which I presume is what happens as she seems to spend so much time being snapped for papers and magazines)... Thanks for your mature and well thought out response. I have no issues with David Beckham as he is a good influence on youngsters and a good role model for the UK. I cannot say I feel the same way about his wife. I hope he does well out in the USA - HE deserves it, I just wish his missus would accept that she is not the bees knees and stop making a fool of herself at every opportunity :)

We have to agree to disagree there then, my dear friend. I think the poor lass has had a lot of bad press over trivial incidents which have been blown up out of all proportion and some of which never happened at all. I would love to see her make it really big, just to shut up the critics over here, but then I don't like the paparazzi much, so perhaps I am biased.

Look on the bright side, if she does well she will be happy and she will have that daughter David so wants :-)

Awh you have a kind heart dear Shelagh. Well deep down I do hope she has the daughter they both want and maybe their family will be complete and she can become more well known for being a good mother than anything else.

I do have issues with the press too, they do have a knack of picking their person of the moment to bully and pick on and Victoria seems to have been on their hitlist for a very long time! x

I don't have a kind heart, I just get very annoyed when two people stay married and are successful and the press can do nothing more than keep ripping them apart and trying to ruin the marriage. They don't take drugs, wreck hotel rooms etc. but still to read some of the reports you would think they were terrible people.

I would love them to have a daughter, if that is their true wish, and I think that Posh must be a good Mother and he must be a good Father, because whenever there is a photo of the family the children are always happy with them, and generally happy kids have good parents, don't they?

Jealousy plays a big part in all the nastiness. They do have a nice lifestyle and they do buy expensive items, but it is not them who flaunt them, it is others giving juicy little "titbits" to the press.

I don't think Victoria and I would be friends, I am too fat, too ordinary and no use up the ladder, but I admire her for her courage and tenacity.

Let's hope the press soon lay off her!

Thanks for your response. Yes I did see the Ali G interview with them and to be honest it actually made me dislike Ali G even more than I did already. I never managed to get his particular brand of humour. It's not funny, it's offensive. I guess I'm too old to appreciate it LOL! I have to admit when I want to have a dig at our PM I have a dig at him, I don't have an issue with Cherie at all. I guess I'm just sick of seeing Victoria on the front of practically every celebrity magazine practically every week. I never buy them if they have her face on the front! x

Yes indeed the lack of a smile does make her come across as rather cold and unfeeling. Maybe she thinks she'll get wrinkles if she smiles? That is one of the disadvantages of being too skinny, you get wrinkles quicker than us chubbier folk LOL. She's already starting to look a bit haggard! "Posh bot"? That's really funny! Yes I have to admit I have never understood how on earth she got the nickname "posh" - she does sound common - not that there's anything wrong with it, but to call her "posh" - it's real irony! I really DON'T think she's a role model for youngsters, especially for young girls. Eating disorders are far too common these days and I think it's ridiculous that so many girls aspire to be "footballer wives" - like it's such an important job? They should aspire to get a good education and be able to stand on their own feet - not have to marry some overpaid sportsman to keep them in designer shoes and handbags... :)

I honestly don't think any of us "regular" people have really seen her personality. All we see is what she cares to show the public and it isn't acually that a very good image she portrays in general. I know many more people who dislike her generally than like her, in fact, I can hardly recall anyone I know in real life who's ever said that they admire her. There are many more people in the public eye who seem to be far more popular - despite her attempts to appear in every magazine's front page - it doesn't make her likeable...
