Do you let your kids watch scary movies? At what age do you think it's OK for them to watch scary stuff? I always worried about my daughter getting bad dreams.

1. hartlepoolno3 (323) | 3 years ago | i haven't got kids but i have a younger sister and know her friends, i think it depends on their personality and maturity, i wouldn't show a scary movie to a child who has frequent nightmares or is a nervous person, if they are ready and seem calm in scary situations then let them watch one and take it from there.

2. pumpkinjam (2761) | 3 years ago | I agree with the first answer. My kids don't really watch movies that often and when they do, they prefer cartoons and comedies. But my 7 year old does watch some things which other people would find scary. Usually he'll watch them fairly early in the day so he won't have nightmares! It can be difficult to decide what is scary and what's not. My youngest who is nearly two has only just got over seeing a certain programme come on which used to really scare him - that was a children's programme! If you loo at some of the programmes which are made for kids, you won't think twice about most scary films!

pumpkinjam (2761) | 3 years ago | They are two that I wouldn't let my kids watch. The scariest I have seen was Hannibal, which I wouldn't let them watch either but some which are maybe more factual I don't mind my older child watching because I can explain anything he doesn't understand.

6. kfrisk (2817) | 3 years ago | Their grandpa made the mistake of letting my kids watch the movie The Fog. It scared the crap out of them and they had a hard time sleeping in the dark after that movie. I try not to let them watch anything scary. Sometimes they like to sit and watch my law shows with me and sometimes they are too scary for them.
