HYDERABAD, India (UPI) -- A childless couple in Hyderabad, India, was so distraught by the death of their 13-year-old dog, Puppy, that they committed suicide. Police, who had been alerted by neighbors, found the decomposed bodies of C.N. Madanraj, 66, a military veteran, and his wife Tara Bai, 63, in their home. The two had hanged themselves. The Deccan Herald reported the couple had no children and "Puppy" had been with them for 13 years and had died last week. Police said they found a note found in which the couple explained their actions and listed the addresses of their relatives. A nephew of Madanraj said: "They were so shocked and saddened by the loss of their companion that they performed a formal funeral. They put the dog in its regular bed and wrapped it in a cloth and buried it in the backyard. Uncle also had financial problems but he never sought help from anyone." The couple left behind about $40 to pay for their funeral, the report said, and they were cremated in the compound of their home.

wow that is really sad. i couldn't imagine. we had something like that happen here. although it wasn't over a dog. a couple was in debt, they were older. they couldn't stand it so the husband shot the wife and the dog and then himself. its really sad because they left behind a lot of family that would have helped them.

Oh my gosh, i couldn't imagine I love my dog dearly and he is our child (is a 17 year old baby at that), but I couldn't imagine killing ourselves over the loss of him. :( That's just really sad.
