 ST. JOHN'S, Newfoundland (UPI) -- Canada Post announced it is suspending service to 13 housing units in St. John's, Newfoundland, because of high amounts of dog excrement.
The postal service said the row houses on Freshwater Road and Anderson Avenue in the city have too much dog mess on the sidewalks for postal workers to navigate through, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Thursday.
"This situation presents risk of slips and falls and it's a situation where we can decide not to deliver mail," said Genevieve Latour, a spokeswoman for Canada Post. She said the dog droppings present a hazard on the same level as ice or snow.
However, some residents were outraged by the decision.
"I was very shocked," said resident Pam Manning, who says she always cleans up after her dog. "I couldn't believe that Canada Post wouldn't deliver mail for that reason. I'm sure they run into that where ever they go, but why they're singling us out, I don't know."

But it stand to reason that if there is a lot of doggie doodo than they should not have to walk thru it i mean comm on clean up after yer pet for crying out loud. If there is an excessive amount then they should not be expexted to weave and jump there way around it how would you feel stepping in it or even worse falling in it cause your hands are full. I have a dog and make sure there is no surprises in my front yard for peopel to find.

This is hilarious.
I live in Canada, although in Calgary not Newfoundland, but there is a law in Canada that you have to pick up after your dog poops.
What my neighbor does is ingenious. They bought a pup tent, no pun intended, and put a childs pool in it and filled it with odor control cat litter. Erected it in the back yard and this is where the dog does his business. I never smell their dog at all. They trained it when it was a pup so I don't know if it would work for old dogs but its great for this one. Susan
