What's your thoughts on store bought Play-doh? Love it or hate it? I for one love the feel of it when I open a new can. What I don't like are all the little crumbs of it that end up on the floor. In my daycare I have a plastic runner under the table so any droppings land and on that and not in the carpet. Makes for easier clean up.
If you are interested in making your own Playdough, here is a recipe you might enjoy......
Kool Aid Playdough
1 cup flour, sifted
1/2 cup sald
3 tablespoons cooking oil
1 package Koolaid (unsweetened)
1 cup boiling water
Mix together flour, salt, oil and Kool-Aid. Add the cup of boiling water, mix well. Knead the mixture until it forms a soft dough. Store in an air tight container.

Hello,I use to be a supervisor in a daycare. I made this play dough all the time. I was wondering how many children do you have in your daycare?

Oh I have a home daycare, not a daycare center. I use to teach in a center but went back to home daycare because I enjoy the smaller environment better.

My son's kindergarten teacher makes the same recipe. She sent home a copy of it with all of the kids at the first of the year and we have made it quite a few times. It's so soft and smells good too.
I personally hate the store bought play dough. I can't stand the feel of it or the smell. It is also much messier than the homemade stuff.

Thanks for the recipe. I had this one awhile ago but lost it. My 4 and 2 year olds love play dough but they're still little enough to mix all the colors together and leave containers open. It gets expensive to replace the store bought play dough all the time. We also put a plastic mat down to catch most of the little pieces. It doesn't catch them all but it helps some.

I have used store bought play doh and I would have to say I don't enjoy it. I remember someone making the homemade stuff and I liked that far more better, I found it to be soft and great smelling ....I have never made it myself but with this great Recipe I will be sure to try and learn to save the money!!!!
Thank you for this great topic

thanks for the recipe! i might ask my sister to do that, she really loves these type of stuff.
i don't really love nor hate play-doh, but back when i was a kid, i can't get enough of it! but i don't remember ever creating something special and cute that would make me preserve or display it for an hour, i would usually mash or knead it again after attempting to make something out of it. but i remember that my grandmom is really good at it, she made small animals using her bare hands out of the play-doh i was playing with.
