The Citadelle in Haiti - In the early 1800s, King Henri Christophe built this fortress on top of a 3000 foot mountain a few miles out from Cap Haitien on the north coast of Haiti. It took approximately 20,000 men to build the Citadelle .. they dragged the stones and the cannons up the mountain by manpower alone.
