The Mackinac Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island, Michiga - Mackinac Island is located in the straits of Mackinac which is where the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan meet. The Mackinac Grand Hotel situated on the island was the setting for two famous movies: 'This Time For Keeps' starring Jimmy Durante and Esther Williams and 'Somewhere in Time' starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. No cars allowed on the island so to get around the favorite form of transportation for me was bicycle built for two - we went all the way around the island. Horse drawn carriages are also available.
