Queen Elizabeth in films - Cate Blanchett received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance of the title role in Shekhar Kapur's 1998 film Elizabeth. Blanchett reprises the role in the sequel, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, which is set for release fall, 2007.
