Oscar - This is an Oscar which is a member of the cichlid family. It's scientific name is Astronotus ocellatus. The most common types are Tiger, Red, and Albino Oscars which can all grow up to a foot in length regardless of tank size. Being cichlids they tend to be aggressive and territorial and are not meant for community tanks. most people mistakenly but one because of how adorable the fry (babys) are and end up with the Oscars attacking other fish. On the plus side they are considered the most intelligent of the cichlids in South America and can even be taught advanced tricks like jumping trough a hoop in the air for food.
