jim reeves - Jim Reeves Day Number 7 a big success! A great time was had by all at this year's Jim Reeves Jamboree. The weekend started off with a VIP party at the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame on Friday night and continued on throughout Saturday, Feb. 24th. Fans enjoyed live bands, local talent and wonderful crafts, booths and food. The day show ended with Vernon Kohlbusch from Missouri winning the Jim Reeves sound a like contest. The night show featured Scott Reeves hosting what many fans said was the best show of all seven years. Impressionist Warrren Bradley opened the show with his comedy and many of his more than seventy voices. John Rex did Jim's biggest hits and was joined twice on the stage by former Blue Boy, Bill Harlan, and fiddler Ron Knuth for some good old fashioned front porch pickin'. Special guests included John Dee Secord, folk duo Vollie and Elaine (joined on stage by their mom) and Panola County's own Pure Country Band. Many thanks to all the fans who attended and continue to make this such a special annual event for Carthage. It was great to see Jim's surviving sister, Louie, and so many of the Reeves family. Once again thanks for our partnership with KGAS radio and Jerry Hanszen. Keep checking back for information about the 8th celebration coming in 2008
