Our Military Hero - SSGT Adam Varney has made a career in the United States Army. Throughout the past several years, he has been around the world. His passion is music and was invited to join the all military band, which opened up a lot of opportunities to play the keyboard with many accomplished artists. Stationed at Fort Carson, CO, he was sent to Iraq at the frontlines of the 'enemy'. Adam drove the Bradley tank, small compared to other tanks, with 3 others inside. A roadside bomb hit them, completely destroying the tank. Adam manage to get his buddies out ok before collapsing himself with massive injuries. It's been a few years now and is still trying to recover. He has been awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and many other medals for commendations and bravery. Adam will be leaving the army soon with honors. Historians found his Bradley and had it shipped back to the states. It's been placed in a museum in El Paso Texas. A search was made to find the driver of the tank, which led the historians to Adam, who just happened to be stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, in search of more information to the event in Iraq. Along with the fear and not knowing what's going on that a mom has to deal with, one thing that gives me peace of mind; I know there's an angel watching over my son, Adam. Gloria Douglas
