Milford sound NZ - Milford Sound is a fjord in the south west of New Zealands South Island, within Fjordland National Park. It is inscribed as a World Heritage Site for its natural wonders, and also is acclaimed as New Zealand's own most famous tourist destination. The Sound was once a very large glacier, yet lithosphere movement, freezing polar temperatures and stream corrosion are among the reasons why Milford Sound is what it is today. Tourist attractions include the Mirror Lake where you behold the stunning reflections of towering mountains on crystal-clear water; the Monkey Creek where you can refresh yourself with pure natural mineral water; and the spectacular Bowen Falls that rises 160 meters to the sky. You will probably have the chance to get up close and personal with seals as they sunbathe on undulating rocks.
