The story follows Nathan Price through boyhood to manhood in a short peroid of time. From the moment his father and mother are brutally murdered to the showdown with a deadly beast of great magical ability called the Chalth, he finds himself the last champion of the human race. The once proud people of who graced Earth before current humanity left behind a prophecy yielding a secret to the power of the mind and within where one could destoy entire populations with a sweep of a hand. Nathan finds himself pit against his own kind, and the man who leads them. If left to see his plans come to fruition this man's deadly scheme could well destroy the human race and worse yet the entire planet.
