Aquila Game Reserve Wildlife Safari - No visit to South Africa is complete without a safari in a game reserve! The Aquila Game Reserve covers a 4,500 hectare area of the Southern Karoo Highlands. It is the closest private game reserve to Cape Town which is just a 90 minute drive away. After an early morning departure this tour heads off to the beautiful Aquila Game Reserve. Once there, you will be taken on a game drive by an experienced Ranger ensuring optimal game viewing in open 4x4 vehicles. Giraffes, lions, leopards, springboks, zebras, black and blue wildebeest are just some of the wildlife inhabiting the reserve. There are also good opportunities to see crocodiles, and if you are very lucky, the illusive Mountain Leopard can be seen at certain times of the year. Aquila Game Reserve has a large natural wetland and bird watching opportunities are plentiful. It is home to over 170 species of bird, including the endangered Black Eagles which the reserve is named after.
