Cognigen Funny Car - A few years ago, I sponsored this nitro-fueled 'funny car' drag racing car in the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) finals at Indianapolis Indiana. The owner of the car did not have a regular sponsor, so I got a one-time bargain price of USD $50,000. I made the best of the opportunity by hiring some models (dressed in a minimal amount of clothing) to hand out our company brochures with an autographed photo of our driver on one side of the brochure. The owner/driver of the car was Chuck Etchells. I learned much, and had a lot of fun during that three day racing event. Racing a top funny car is an expensive proposition -- for example, they go though an engine block, on average, once for each eight quarter mile trips down the track. Maintaining a crew of 10 or more experienced mechanics; transportation; hotel, fuel and other expenses drive the cost up to over $2.5 million for one racing season. We got a real bargain, even though the adventure lost money overall for us.
