does defragmentation of a drive (where the OS is installed) with a professional program such as Perfect Disk actually improve performance (faster boot time and so on) if the drive hasn't been fragmented in over 2 years?

hey.. i do it like a couple times of the month. more so, if i have alot of installing and uninstalling of softwares. i believe that defragmenting really helps with the speed of the computer in terms of booting and use... hehehe......
