English Question: "The" in the middle of a sentence

I received a reply on one of my discussions. Here's an excerpt: "Yes I had good enough legs for Vegas..yep..and the something too my friend" What does 'the' mean in this sentence?

When responding to a discussion do you read the post or just the title?

The title says it all. I think having the right title determines how many responses you get. I have sometimes just read the title and then responded, but I try to read through the post first.
