Letting flavors "mingle" is overrated. Don't you agree?

I just made a pot of chili. It took me about 10 minutes to brown the meat and toss the ingredients in. I'll make a pot of rice now, to go with it... Bye the time the rice is ready, I'll be ready to eat. I make chicken soup...
