My interaction with wild birds around my homestead and farm is already teaching me a valuable lesson of how happy one can be by simply interacting with nature. The fear the birds initially had is fading. They can in fact perch...

Birds of different origin have different habitats. The nests are also different. In Nepal there are bird houses where visitors buy ticket and enter and provide bird feeds also. It is fascinating to see that they are bred in...

In many countries spring has set in. One of the biggest signs of spring setting in is the new flowers in the trees. Even the nightingale and other birds which are most visible in spring and build nests give the message of spring....

I heard two little bird voices outside on the pole. One was my usual woodpecker and one was another. It must have a mate. They were seriously discussing things right at the top of the pole. I would think they were discussing...

For years, my neighbor's balcony planters have been home to many broods of doves. She (my neighbor) is the mother of my young friend whom I write about often. The juvenile doves have them come over to my balcony for "flight...

Well, with the world falling apart...Earthquakes, Typhoons, Hurricanes and a total maniac out there playing with Nuclear, I am kind of speechless at the moment. I note that myLot is much quieter too. At least it seems so to me.
I...

I saw this one in some of the brush and thought it looked pretty cool, though I'm not sure what kind of bird made it.
I tried to see if there were any eggs in it. But, when I approached it, I realized it was a little too high off...

Well, to be fair, the nest itself isn't overly interesting. It just looks like a normal bird's nest. What was interesting was the fact it was built in a fallen tree just about three feet off the ground. That doesn't sound like it...

The weather has been a little too cruddy the past couple of days to take my walk (especially since snow tends to hide the water in the marsh area, making it very easy to go for an unintentional swim). However, I did grab a photo...

I'm not sure what kind of bird it belongs to. But, I did see this cool-looking bird's nest on my walk today.

Spotted this in the crabapple tree just outside. I think it is a robin's nest. However, it appears to be empty now.

I had my suet out on a tail prop feeder. Woodpeckers and Flickers like to sit with their tails propped against it like they do in trees. A pair of male and female woodpeckers had been alternating, coming by morning and evening. I...

Last year I believe we had six large yellow jacket nests in our front yard lawn. A friend mows, and he discovers them. Some of them the hard way, sad to say.
We wait till dark and pour gas into the holes. We don't light them,...

I believe every house has to have a nester in order to be a home. It is usually mom or wife, tho a man could be.
That is my problem every time I move. A nester is the one that makes sure there is food in the...

Last year a Wattle Bird nested in our carport. She choose a crate full of camping kitchen equipment for her nest. When the eggs hatched, a rat got to them & ate the babies.
Later, the mother Wattle bird made another nest in...
