At a height of 8000 feet above sea level it is expected that lapse rate is going to apply. Also in the mountains of Tibet there is strong fog and misty. Visibility becomes an issue. The lush green alpine forests with pine, fir,...

Daringbari is situated at 4000 feet above sea level in Orissa. There are briliant pine forests and eucalyptus forests. There are parks created adjacent to them. The lovely alpine breeze is enjoyable. The greenery is enchanting.

Now that we have tidied up our workshop, we decided to make another little box which will be a gift for a little friend in Austria. We made one in jarrah, an Australian reddish wood, but we’re using pine for this one.
The last...

Went out to fill up the bird feeder earlier. Watered the roses and heard birds in the nearby pine trees.
There are several 25 foot white pines along the back of the yard. Many times I have seen nests in these trees.
While...

The photos above are the before and after of the interior of the coin case. We wanted to line the case with something. We had some nice blue fabric which we could have stuck to the wood but then there was the problem of how to...

The photo shows the coin case that has been occupying our time lately. Vince, my husband, has made it out of pine boards from a pallet. The raised piece on the left enables the lid to be slid open easily. Inside are six little...

I wrote about making a small wooden case to hold coins. The coins were issued in 2016 to commemorate the Rio de Janiero Olympic Games. There are five and each has a coloured circle representing the five Olympic rings. We were...

We’re making progress with the coin case. You can see it here but it’s not finished yet. I’ve opened the sliding lid a bit. The inside isn’t finished yet. The outside edges will be rounded off and the whole thing sanded and...

This is another of our power tools which has had a lot of use. Here, it is called a ‘thicknesser’ or planer. Wooden boards are fed through the machine and the blades in the machine shave off the top layer of timber, giving a...

Here is our workshop. I know it looks a mess. I could say it looks worse than it is but I’m not sure that would be true. Vince is pondering about something; we have a length of pine ready to be cut into pieces with the cut-off saw...

Having six pine trees pays off this time of year. The pine straw that falls eventually turns brown. This can be put around plants and flowers in the garden. Saves on having to buy mulch. This will hopefully protect them from the...
