Does toothpaste really work for scratches on cd's ?

I have read yes it does, then I have also read that it is not good for the cd's. So whats the final answer ?

I have a few quick fixes in my issues, they are probably shorter sentences writing, buffing nails and clipping instead of salon. Another one is little eyebrow blades instead of tweezers. What about you?
