If the photo grosses you out, don’t look. I am getting ready for my morning walk before it gets too hot.
No matter where I walk, I always keep my eyes opened wide for snakes, bikers, cars, and dog poo that someone neglected to...

....Today I found out just houw useless they are.
While I was out today, I could smell the familiar smell of decay. It's not uncommon for birds or squirrels or small animals become road kill. But, what I did see, broke my heart....

So after removing the pheasant I mentioned in my last post, I flung it into the bushes thinking a visiting fox would probably appreciate it.
But then I started thinking....
Well, I like pheasant,
And this one certainly doesn’t...

I am not necessarily an animal lover, although I do care about and respect wildlife. I will admit that I do...

I found this dead badger on a road near my home. There isn't a mark on it but it's obviously been hit by a car. I live in a semi-rural area and roadkill like this is quite common. Badgers are a frequent victim closely followed by...

I know people worry about all the dangerous creatures we’re supposed to have in Australia but one of the more harmless ones is the sleepy lizard (Tiliqua rugosa). The lizard is also known as the shingleback, pinecone, or...

While we were in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia, this emu crossed the road in front of us. We also saw a lot of dead ones on the road verges.
Emus are beautifully adapted for the harsh conditions of the Australian...

We spent two nights in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia. If we thought we saw a lot of roadkill in Tasmania, we’ve seen a darn sight more in this area. Often there will be carcasses of dead animals at least every few hundred...

The rural area near my home is populated by an assortment of wild animals and birds.
At night, we often listen to the yapping and howling of the coyotes. They can be heard, early and late, to the north, south, east and west.
We...

I hit a snake crossing the road when I was 16 and in Driver's Ed, but other than that I've never hit anything, knock on wood. We live 15-20 miles out of town, so there is always roadkilll on the side of the road, especially deer....

Ok, I saw this question in our local little paper and had to ask all you MyLot members what your answer to it would be.
Just how desperate for food would you have to be to resort to eating roadkill??? Yup, we're talking about...

Yesterday I saw a squirrel bounding across the road and yup, it was a hit! I think it just hit the bumper, it didn't get squished. Then I was waiting for someone, so I just sat there and I watched it. There were cars going over...

I try my best to avoid animals on the road. I've never hit one yet unless you count insects, in which case, thousands have landed on my windshield. But if your dog or cat runs in front of my car, it has pretty good chances of...

A friend of mine recently had a small dog CHASE her tires and in doing so, she ran into it. It was injured, not killed, but it was still scary. I have never hit or run over a pet myself, but I have seen other people do it, and I...
