FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) - A man faces assault charges after allegedly striking another man with a golf club in an argument over manners. Police told the Cape Cod Times that a 50-year-old man leaving a gas station in town on Monday morning held the door open for a 38-year-old man.

Police said the 38-year-old man did not thank the other man, who responded by uttering a sarcastic "thank you."

The two men got into an argument before the 38-year-old went to his car to get a golf club, which he allegedly used to strike the victim several times in the stomach and legs. Police said the victim suffered minor injuries.

The 38-year-old man pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Falmouth District Court on Tuesday and was ordered to stay away from the other man.

This was more that just being teeded off. This was passed that when you didn't say thank you for holding open the door. That is not normal all the time but there are those. I would have to say a few that will hold the door for you. Man or woman, then to not thank them is rude. Regardless of the age, I have held the door for people. Might not have gotten a thank you but it didn't bother me at all.

Yet I think that way a man thing for it to end up like this. It had to have really been some rather ugly things that they said to one another. For it to go beyond words to violence.

Geez, were both these guys on something?

I hold doors open most of the time, for both genders, and I couldn't care less if the other person thanks me or not. Most do, but I don't complain if they don't.

I only had one instance when I was much younger and neglected this civic duty when the "victim" complained, "Didn't you see me coming?" - the fact was, I didn't, and I informed her, and that was that.

I can see it if the other person was in a wheelchair, or uses a walker or cane, I am more conscientious in those situations, but two fully capable allegedly adult people ...

Maybe all these cell phone waves in the air ...
