Getting my Sunday dose of sacred music. Do you have a favorite "era" for music?

Most of this morning's "A Joyful Noise" program (KDFC-FM) contained Johannes Brahms's German Requiem. It is a rather serious piece from the late Romantic era, but it ends on a major triad.
I am on my second cup of coffee and already had my bacon and egg breakfast. I am going to try and get some exercise in today. I do not have to teach at Guitar Center.
The Baroque program is on now. The Baroque era is one of my favorite eras of classical music. J.S. Bach, whose music is considered "high Baroque," or something like that, lived from 1685 to 1750.
Do you have a favorite a favorite "era" of music? For rock and folk, I still enjoy what was happenning around 1970 the most. For jazz, I like most music from 1955 onward.

My dad loved to have classical music playing while he worked at home on writing he did as an editor for a Latvian newspaper and needed new stories translated. So I soon found on TV the likable tones of rock and roll but at a very young age I didn't know I could just tune in to a rock station when dad was not listening to the radio, This was in the sixties by the time I got to be teen I educated myself on all the rock I could find to listen to from the 1950s onward. Then came the record collections a mess of 45s etc, Now the new music of the 2000 has lost me but I have formed a Favorite list on YouTube of all my rock favorites as well as my Latvian popular music favorites, I was lucky in Latvia radio stations played both English and Latvian and also some pieces that were popular in Europe but not in the US and I had never heard before,

@RasmaSandra I listen to a lot of music in Latin and German and don't really notice. It's mostly classical music, and I get the idea of what they're talking about.

Vanny sent me this one this morning. I don't know whether it's considered popular music or not. But I really like it. I even left a comment. I think I could do an "Americanized" or "Westernized" version of this song.

@TheHorse Oh oh...the song I uploaded in this post is NOT sacred. Evil Grin. The previous songs by these two singers that I uploaded were Marathi sacred songs.

My favourite era is old Bollywood songs from 70s and 80s. They are timeless. Nothing beats the lyrics, composition, singing... it's all a treat to listen.

I somehow find good songs...whether musically or lyrically. Yun toh main batlata nahin, of Taare zameen par, trumps Maa mujhe apne aanchal mein chupa le...1966 lyrically as well as musically for me. The old song seems so artificial in front of the Taare Zameen Par song.
I like many modern songs too. :)

I am pretty much a '70's girl. Sacred music, I tend to like the traditional hymns, but also some more modern pieces. I sang in church choirs for years.

@TheHorse It gives a great sense of belonging. Unfortunately they are being replaced by "worship teams". My church is too small for a choir. Not enough able bodies. I lead congregational singing once or twice a month.

Don't you know that when you are coming on International sites like myLot, where ignoramus like me is playing about, you are supposed to upload a link so that we can easily verify what you are saying is true or not? SMH...
What am I listening to right now?

@Tampa_girl7 I remember being upset when Gordon Lightfoot and Jesse Winchester started using syhthesizers in their music. That was the late 70s. I was still a teenager but "set in my ways" about folk music.

I enjoy all types of music except for operas and too many musicals. My favorite era is between the 60s and 70s. I don't many of the names nowadays. I listen to classical when I am trying to relax along with the rain and thunder ones I find on YouTube. I agree with your last sentence except for the onward as in today's. I enjoy classic rock, classical and all the jazz and blues and folk too. I guess I listen to mostly classical rock.
