4/29/24 - Update on My Husband

My hubby did not call me last night; so I don't know what's going on with him.
Tomorrow we are still scheduled to go to a conference with my favorite Social Worker. I will air my husband's concerns at that time. Should make me very popular.
I really wish I knew how long my husband can stay in rehab until the insurance company decides he must get out.
I will call the Business Office again today about our refund.

@LindaOHio - May be he forgot to recharge his phone during the day.
Your poor husband, is not getting a good treatment there.

@LadyDuck He forgot to call. Now he says it's too hot there. They haven't turned on the AC; and the rooms are stifling.

@LindaOHio — do you have any places that are specifically rehab hospitals? My mom was in one when she was first diagnosed with emphysema, and I think my sis-in-law was at one for her recent shoulder replacement. Some of the places are combination facilities, but the rehab patients are on one side and the nursing facility is on the other. If he’s in a room with a person deemed to be a “nursing home patient” it could explain a lot, including why they never answer his call button.

They said the $$ amount depends on whether it's considered a rehab facility or skilled nursing facility. I need to ask at the meeting. He can have up to 100 days; but it will be expensive for us.

I hope you get a phone call tonight! I know it is upsetting and you wonder what happened. It makes you nervous because you just don't know why or what happened or what is going on.
Good luck with that refund. You may have to call daily until you get a response. There is no reason for them to hold it, but they sure will try!

He called and everything is OK. They won't refund the $ for 4 weeks.

He'll be there for as long as the insurance can justify the cost. Some rehab centers also act as old folks or nursing homes. If they look at it that way, a very long time.

@kaylachan Days 1-20 was a $20 copy. Days 21-100 is a $203 copay. Wasn't expecting THAT!

Hope your meeting tomorrow goes well and certainly that you get an answer from the business office about your refund. That's a lot of money for them to be holding.
