Oh my, I was so afraid of that happening with all four of my pregnancies! I could envision myself strolling through the mall and my water gushing forth onto the mall floor while hundreds of people looked on in amazemet. Magically, my water broke at home in the middle of the night with the first pregnancy and at the hospital with subsequent pregnancies. I remember having plastic on all the furniture and on the seat of the car in case it happened in those areas. What a worry wart I was!

that's funny, i've never heard of people putting plastic down just in case. would be useful though.

I guess even though it's a natural thing, it would be embarrassing. It might look like you've peed yourself. I know a couple of people whose water broke at the grocery store.

ya that's my reasonning why it would be embarassing. it might looked like you peed. some people might not put two and two togeter. meaning big belly/pregnant, water breaking.

With my two boys I was worried my water would break at work (I was in the Air Force during these times!). Both times they broke at the hospital. I think it would be embarrassing but I don't think I would mind this time.

I was afraid that it would happen to me in public while I was pregnant with my boys. It never happened, except for in the birthing room at the hospital as the doctor had to break my water, but if it did, I don't think I would be embarrassed as it's just a part of life. I'd be more afraid of not being prepared for the baby to come just yet! LOL

This is for sure one of my fears, I would for sure be embarrassed if this happened to me. I had our 7th baby on Nov 15th I went to change to go to the hospital when I took my last step off the stair my water broke and I was on the toilet, It took no word of a lie 5-10 mins and he was here without any help! I couldn't image if this was to happen at a store or friends house ect. I am due to have our 8th in Aug and I will be sure to have myself checked in early lol =) Take care and Happy posting

I was so paranoid about this in the end of my pregnancy. I didn't really get out too much in my last couple of weeks. I honestly don't remember my water breaking. I had my daughter in a watertub so I'm assuming that my water broke in the watertub and I didn't even feel it.

I try never to become embarassed about normal things in life. Water breaks? baby's coming!! That's what it would mean to me if I was around someone whose water just broke. I am not pregnant, but I doubt it would embarass me if I were. It's just another fact of life!

Fortunately my water didn't break in public when I was about to give birth, it broke inside the labor room where every attendant is expecting it. My sister kinds experienced this but according to her it didn't look like she accidentally peed, she said while she was in the office she's always feeling the need to pee, little did she know that she's peeing her amniotic fluid.

My water did not break till I was in the hospital as well. I think I would be embarassed if it happened and I was say shopping. I know that it is a normal thing but still what a mess it would be. I actually do not know anyone who has had their water break in public. My cousins broke at home while she was sleeping so her mom got the pleasure of cleaning up the mess.
