Mania and the many diverse conditions associated with it, seem to be viewed as fluctuations on a continum of conscious creative energies. (I studied the data and statistics provided to us as students in a class teaching us the therapists role to a client in need.) People who have the skill to raise awareness of this expressive avenue within, bring this energy to its most elevated respected intensity (found especially rampant in the creative persons), sometimes flaunt inappropriately obnoxious, rude and downright socially-unacceptable behavior. These mental and emotional patterns have long since been used to identify mental illness; in my opinion they have been over-used and now may be loosing ground. My question is two-part: What is your understanding of this phenomena? & Does a link between highly creative states of consciousness and the high energy state referred to as 'mania' exist?
