This is two days' worth of work on a sampler I'm doing for my niece who is getting married May 12. The verse will read: First a dream -- a plan for life --heart and hand... ...Husband and Wife. The original design is by D. Morgan (I think) and is of a man and woman walking in an autumn setting. The woman has brown hair, but as my niece is blonde, I will change that. And because they're getting married in May, I'm changing the season to spring... I've substituted a sunnier blue (DMC 747) for the leaden blue (DMC 932) stated in the instructions. Of course, I'll change the turning leaves on the trees back to green, and turn the leaves on the ground in the forefront into meadow. Think I can get this finished and framed by the 11th?

That is, indeed, "Man and Wife" by D. Morgan. That's a beautiful gift, Barbara! I'm sure your niece will treasure that, something that her aunt took the time to make by hand. It's refreshing to see that people still employ the arts to give gifts as it's so easy to just go out and buy something. Your niece is a lucky lady!

Thank you. I much prefer to make my gifts just because people can buy "stuff" for themselves. I was thinking about doing a painting until I came across this pattern in a stack at Goodwill. It seems perfect for them, as they've actually been together for some time and are just making it "official". The invitation is sent from their kids instead of the more traditional parents of bride and groom. (I changed "Man and Wife" to "Husband and Wife" because it's more equal that way.)
