I have to tell you what happen last night. It was around 3:00 in the morning and of course we were sleeping soundly. I was awaken by aloud noise. It woke my husband and I up at the same time. It sounded like some one was trying to get in my screen door and our bedroom is the above that area. Then I heard one of my cats growling and crying. My husband and I both looked at each other and he said Ill go down. So he went downstairs bat in hand. He flicked on the light and he saw another cat right against my back door clawing to get in. But the light scared him away. I woke up this morning and my cat was sleeping right at the door. She was protecting us. Thats my sweet Maggie.

My dog seems to be protecting me always. When i am sleeping, i would sometimes open my eyes and see my dog staring at me. I always catch her like that. She's not sleeping at night, but in the morning instead. Everytime i open my eyes in the middle of the night, i always see her looking at me. And there was a time that i was always having a nightmare and my body couldn't move, my dog will go to me and make moves or go under my arms in a way that i am hugging her and then i'll be able to wake up.

They can be quite protective, its gorgeous. When my baby wakes up (even though I have the monitor on) my cat comes and screams and then goes back running to the room, to let me know that he awake, its so cute.

Now who ever said that a cat won't protect the ones they love? Thanks for telling us that story. I hope that the intruder will be gone for good now. How scary that must have been. Yes, thank goodness for Maggie.

Awwww.. how sweet! Who needs watch "dogs" when you have guard "cats", right? LOL I've heard others comment on how protective their cats are of the property and the owners. I know one cat, on my uncles UPS route, that would literally prey upon visitors and jump from a refrigerator in the store to land on peoples backs and bite them! LOL As funny as it sounds, it wouldn't be too funny if you were the UPS guy!!!

Your cat has done a great job. She is a couragious cat. She has done the job of a dog. I listened a real story of a brave cat from my grandmother. Once a snake came in her village home. The house cat then courageously faced it and fought with the snake. The snake attacked the cat again and again but it saved himself from the snake's bite and attacked the snake with its claw. In this way the fight went for a long time and at last the cat killed the snake.

That is funny, cats are sometimes more territorial than dogs are. I live in the country and we get strays dumped on us all the time. I can't let them starve, so I feed them, but my cat Ms. Lizzie, she is 12 years old and I have had her since a kitten, has a pecking order as to who eats when. She stands guard over the food when I put it out and lets the smallest cats eat first, then the bigger ones. There is a big orange tabby that I named Morris and he tries to get into the food all the time, Ms. Lizzie raises her paw first, to warn him, and if he does not go back and wait his turn, she smacks him! Cats are so comical! tdbrower1969
