If one aspect of our bbq today was successful, it was the desert. It was outstanding & the kids & two adults asked for seconds. It is my Mothers made up recipe so you won't find it anywhere else:
INGREDIENTS
plain chocolate sponge cake, or chocolate & cream roll
strawberry jelly
thickened cram
fresh strawbrries
chocolate custard (bought or made up)
icing sugar
RECIPE
The Day before do 2 things:
Make up the jelly & let it set.
Cut up the cake into bite size pieces & put in your crystal bowl (any bowl really). Pour the chocolate over the cake as evenly as possible.
Do not put the cake/custard mix in the fridge until the custard has completely soaked through.
The next morning, chop up the jelly so it is all in bits.
Put all this jelly on top of the cake/ custard mix.
Now whip all your cream (with icing).
Put all the cream on top of the jelly.
Now, cut the strawberries in half, & spread them all over the top.
Refrigerate until ready to use.
Delicious.
