not sure if i can do anything about it. i live in a house that has an apartment upstairs. the people upstairs don't work and they sleep all day and are up all night. they keep me up til 5 am and my daughter gets up aroud 7:30 so i don't get much sleep. the problem is is that they aren't playing loud music or tv. they are just doing their normal day living at night. i can't really go up there and say you are walking so loud and talking so loud and opening closets and cupboards. what can i do. i haven't slept in weeks now and i'm so exhausted.

i think it is because of the lack of communication between you.maybe he does not know he has made trouble to you at all.so you should tell him that you can not stand up with them, their living schedule is not normal, can they change it a little, then you can get along with each other.

i've talked to him 5 times now about the noise. they've turned down the misic and stuff so it's not really a communication problem.

Oh that's a tough situation to deal with. I would say that you oughta try to be really loud during the day and see how they like it. But, then they will just be louder at night. Could you try ear plugs? Or maybe playing some music that might help drown it out? Also, you might just try talking to them. Maybe if you explained to them like you've explained to us, they will be understanding. Good luck! I wish I could of been more help.

thanks, i've talked to them before and they blew me off. my noise they just sleep through. the landlord pounded on their door one day at lunch time and it took them 15 minutes to hear it so normal day noise from me won't wake them. also i tried sleeping with music to drawn it out and i can't sleep like that and i can't wair ear plugs cause i have to listen for my daughter. she doens't get out of bed when she needs me and she calls for me softly in the monitor.

Personally I would go up and explain things to them. I would do it nicely at first. The other thing you can do is play music and open and close doors when they are trying to sleep. I don't know if that really works when you are on the ground floor apartment. I know it works it you were the top appartment. The next step is complain to the landlord. The landlord is actually responsible for the quality of live in his building.

i've contacted the landlord (my dad) anyway he is trying to get him kicked out. he's allready broken a bunch of the things on the lease. he's going through the process but he needs a little more to get him kicked out. he needs actual complaints from the police department that i've complained about loud noise at night. so next time when they have a bunch of people there again and are lound i'll call the cops and that will give my dad more of a reason to get him evicted. the problem is in court usually tenants have more rights than landlord so he needs me to complain to the cops so he can do something about it. so we are working on it

I don't know what you could do without looking like a complainer =) Do you sleep with a fan?? I can't sleep without our ceiling fan and a little desk fan on. It keeps the room cool and drowns out any noises so I can sleep. I get woke-up easily too so I have to have them!! You could try that! I don't know how you could complain or talk to them without feeling silly like, "I can hear you closing your cabinet doors and walking around at night, can you be quiet?" I don't know, maybe they will move soon!!!

they just moved in a few weeks ago. i do sleep with a fan. i love it cold as well and i need to hear the noise of that to sleep but it's not hiding the noise from outside. i even tried music and the tv on at night and it doesn't help.
