What was your favourite Atari 2600 game?

I know you have one, you child of the seventies (or eighties), you! I had over 300 Atari cartridiges, if you can believe that. I used to buy them for $0.99 from KayBee when they went on clearance. I simply adored the original Pac-Man, horrible graphics and all.
Do you remember Atari? If so, which was your favourite game?

I loved Phoenix! Here, this should be a trip down memory lane for you: http://www.atariage.com/screenshot_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=355&ItemTypeID=SCREENSHOT

There was an arcade version, I believe. You may be remembering that. Its graphics were veritable lightyears beyond that of the meager Atari 2600's.

I was a total Atari addict! I think my favorite game was Pitfall. I also loved Frogger, pac man, Mrs. Pac Man, Defender, Space Invaders... so many! I actually got a blister on my thumb the first day I got my Atari, because I played it for like 8 hours straight!

I remember the days of playing eight or more hours consecutively. I was just a girl geek and, truth be told, I still am.

I absolutely loved Pac-Man. It was so much fun. Now that I am in my 40's, I would consider it stressful.

Pac-Man? Stressful? No way! All kidding aside, it can be a bit nerve wracking. I recently bought a "greatest hits" disc for my PlayStation 2 and it has, among others, Pac-Man and Mrs. Pac-Man. While I'm playing it, I find myself gnawing stedily away at my lower lip, something that I do when I'm anxious.

You probably had what collector's call a "woody," which refers to the wood grain panelling on the early models. Very cool. :)

My siblings and I had an Atari game when we were kids. My favorite game was 'Pitfall'. I loved the little guy that you would make jump over rolling barrels, and swamp pits, and of course the crocodiles.
My second favorite game was frogger. We bought the little hand held plug in controller of it for my son last year and he loves frogger too. Except this new one is a bit more difficult them the one that I was use to back in the eighties.
I saw that the Atari(or something like) it was brought back about a year or two ago. Except the new on has the games programmed on it. It does however, still have the look of the Atari except no cartridge spot on it. I told my husband that I wanted it and he does too.

It's amazing how many people cited Pitfall. It was such a simple game, yet so compelling. Now, in light of how complicated the console systems and their respective controllers are, it's a wonder such things ever held our attention.

I remember begging and begging for this game and my parents uncharacteristically giving in and buying me this game - brand new. There I sat, hour after hour, pretending I was Indiana Jones - completely amazed at how "realistic" this game was and marveling over the graphics.
Now, I look at it and go...huh? How dull was my life? lol

Pitfall? Hey, that's a noble game! *grin*
I have an Atari 2600 emulator on my PC, so I go back and play some of the older, more obscure games, not that Pitfall was obscure, mind you, but that's one of the ones that I like to play from time to time. There was also a sequel, Pitfall II, which was more like an adventure game.
The gold and silver bars were fine, but what the heck were those purple bars?
