Affiliate programmes

I have come across many affiliate programs, but has never joined one, because I have not understood what the programme was all about. I would be much obliged if somebody explain about affiliate programmes. Please be good enough to explain the programme right from the basics. I say thanks to all of you in advance for the details they might give me.

Getting referrals to your mylot url is also part and parcel of Affiliate programme. For any info represent directly or indirectly to your visitors and get the appreciation as per terms and conditions.

Not sure if what I do is an affiliate program going by what the others have stated below. I sell products(ebooks) created by the owner of the program. They are my products to sell. I make 100% commission on every sale not a percentage. Why sell for apercetnage when you can get all of it. Let's see you get a complete back office, web pages, banners and oh yeah 24/7 support from real people. Also residual income from the built programs. All from promoting one webpage. Nope this can't be an affiliate program Cuase it doesn;t meet the protocals Yet everyone says it is hmmmmm Wendy
