Why WMP eq sucks so much and Winamp eq rocks?

There's NO Windows Media Player eq setting that sounds really good on my pc (and on others I've seen also). But if you set quickly a new equalization setting on WMP, it sounds like perfection.
Why is that? Can you manage living with WMP equalization?
