Are SLANGS useful for english learners?

i saw a lot of slangs being used by native enlish speakers.I think it is important to understand them when spoken . And i am trying to make use of these slangs to get myself into the real english community.Langage is kina game which tests your time, patience and confidence.

Slang has always formed a part of the English language although the slang words vary over the years and time. What may have been slang back in the 1960's is no longer considered slang now, so try and investigate different decades of slang
