Do you think Webcams pose a potential danger for teens?
Last year, CBS 3 aired a special that showed how easy it was for a potential predator to find a unsuspecting teen on myspace with just some of the info they list, now police are concerned that webcams offer a new danger.
What are your thoughts?

I wouldn't allow my children to have a webcam. I think it is just asking for problems. I don't even like using a webcam but mainly because I don't want to fix my hair and get dressed before I get on the computer*L* I do think there are risks with a webcam that preditors can use and I would do anything to protect my children. So nope mine won't be using the webcam at all.

I can understand how webcams could present an even more serious threat for our young people. One thing on Myspace that people don't think about, or any other site such as that, is that people can learn a lot about a person depending on the pictures etc. that they put on their site. My nephew who is only 11 got a myspace account and on it he claimed to be 16 and even gave his hometown. Then as if that weren't dangerous enough, his picture was in his rec department football uniform. Now how hard would it be for a predator to go to his home town and look for this child in a football game, then maybe come up to him pretending to be a scout or something and convince him to leave with him???

Yes i do think there is a danger on using webcams but i don't see the need for it to be banned now. it is everywhere. the thing is the parents must be there to guide the kids onto online awareness and have some programs on your computer for parental controls. and also limit the kids usage of the computer.
