My thyroid tests came out over-corrected!

I have hypothyroidism and gained 50 pounds in one year (about 3 years ago0 without chanigng my diet or exercise patterns. It has taken over a year to get my thyroid to this level. Last week after 2-3 months on 100 mcg I went to the doctor to have my blood taken and retested. The doctor automatically upped my dosage to 112 mcg for the next month and the 125 mcg for the next 2 months. She figured that my thyroid was still under-corrected because it has been every time I've gotten tested in the last year. I still feel tired often and I am not losing weight like I should be (I've been dieting and exercising aggressively for 6 weeks straight and nothing!)
Anyway, that was Friday and since then I've been taking 112 mcg. She called today and said that my tests showed that my thyroid is over-corrected! She said I have to go back down to 100 mcg. I already have the 112 and I want to keep taking it because I know something isn't right and I'm trying to lose weight.
What should I do? Should I go back down to the lower dosage that my dr. recommends?
Are there factors that can change the tyroid test results and cause them to be wrong?
Any help would be appreciated a lot!!

I have hypothyroidism too, and I suggest you maybe get retested just in case? If you're really concerned, maybe something was wrong at the time the test was done. Just ask the doctor.

I would do exaclty what your doctor's suggest . I have the same problem as you but for some reason I have never gained any weight . Every one who hears I have a problem with my thyroid always assume it is the problem where one can't put on weight as I am so small and can't seem to put on any weight but the truth is I have the type that is supposed to make you gain weight .
I have been dealing with this for almost two years now and they are constantly changing my dose . I asked my doctor about this and she informed me that this is quite common , your thyroid can keep changing and that is why we should be tested for this every few months to make sure that the dose does not have to be upped or droped for some reason . She explained to me that it is more dangerous to take the wrong dose for our heatlh and to just make sure to not forget to take them and that for the rest of my life I would have to deal with going in and being tested for this to make sure on what dose I should take . Some people it is easier to regulate but once they regulate it does not mean that the next time you get checked out that they won't have to start all over again with checking you more often to regulate it again .
I would definitely do what your doctor said . I can't say I understand it much as I don't really understand this condition myself but she has told me there is nothing to worry about and that it is more common then people realize but can be hard to diagnos and regulate once the problem is found .
Best of luck !!
