My father wants to help us get our home insulated before windter sets in. But he wants my brother to do it. My brother has not done this before even though he is a contractor. He spoke to me and wanted to drill about 100 or more holes in our freshly painted walls in order to blow the insualtion in. I have no problem with blowing it in but i want it done under the siding outside! I discussed this with my dad and he told me to get an estimate from a professional. But i don't want to hurt my brother's feelings. He needs the money and my father was willing to pay him to do it. What should I do? How should I handle this?

Being a homeowner and knowing how important that investment is, you want to get an estimate from a professional, find out what the professional would and how they do it. If they are going to do it the same way your brother wants to go ahead and save the money and let him do it. If the professional is doing it the way you think it should be done. Then hire the professional to do it.
Tell your brother, that though you love him, you have to make sure it is being done right, because if done wrong it could hurt the value of you home.

If nothing else I would have a professional come out for an estimate so that the can explain the process to you so that you know what you can expect if you do have your brother do it. You just go about the estimate and ask as many questions as you can.
