I have said since my daughter started to crawl that my son is my girl and my daughter is my boy. She loves dirt and playing with boy type toys. She runs around all wild, falls and crashes without a peep. My son on the other hand is sweet and thoughtful, doesn't like to get dirty, etc. I'm not saying that he isn't like a boy, she is just tougher than he is in some senses. Anyway, my stepmom really wants her to be all girly. She buys her girly stuff and tries to dress her up and stuff. I don't have a problem with it, I just tell my stepmom that I think she is going to be disappointed because my daughter is definitely going to be a tomboy. Which is fine with me, I was also a tomboy, still kinda am. I am sure it is because I grew up with 3 brothers. Were you a tomboy if you were a girl? Would you care if your daughter was one? Would you still try to get her to be girly?

I was very girly when I was younger but I had a niece who liked nothing better than being mistaken for a boy! My daughter acts like a tomboy but still likes to look girly - so I probably have the best of both worlds! lol xxx

I was a little bit of a tomboy and still am, but I know how to be girly when I am in the mood. It is so important to let the children find their own way, and not label them. Don't force them to be what we think that they should be or what WE want them to be. They are individuals and will not thrive if we don't let them be who they are. I always dream of having a little girl and dressing her up in the frilly stuff, but she may not like that and I will have to accept that or deal with an angry rebellious child. When my niece was growing up, I'd say, to about the age of eleven, she was very quiet, shy sweet, unassuming. She did not have much of a sense of style and we didn't think we would have to worry much about her. Then, BAM, she seemed to have grown up over night. She was in the mirror for hours and hours on end. She had to have the latest this and that. Her hair and nails had to be done. She would go through this whole regimen every morning and night and often in between. She has style, but it is her own unique style and she wears it well, though, one time her mother commented that it was hard to be her.

I was a tomboy and still kinda am. My husband is a very outdoorsy type person and my son who is 3 is very active and rough. So, if I had a daughter there is a pretty good chance she would be a tomboy. My mother would probably try to make her lacy and girly and prissy. She mostly likely would not want to be lacy girly and prissy and that would be just fine with me. I would want her to be her self and be what ever makes her comfortable.

Yeah, it's funny because I know we all want her to be herself. I just think that since she is the only girl grandchild right now that my step mom wants her to be all girly. She continues to buy her dresses and pink and things like that. I just look at her and smile. I don't think it's going to happen that way.

Oh yes I was a tomboy! I loved to climb trees, get dirty, play football ect.. If I had a daughter I would let her be what she wants. I wouldnt force her to be girly! No way! She is who she is and thats that!!
