Pearl Harbour and other "Pro-american" movies...

Canada

I just saw this tonight. I'm Canadian, not American but obviously pretty close to that culture. I saw Pearl Harbour on TV tonight and I liked it except all the love scenes and the "rah rah american hero crap" made me sick and I had to leave the room. The thing that makes me the most sick on movies like this is that "Proud american hero war salute". Does anyone else know what I'm talking about and feel the same way? I think of movies that are like this, always about "America the true strong and free" being in trouble and being rescued by the good old all-american hero whose usually in love with or married to the good old american gorgeous gal.

I didn't see Pearl Harbor because I heard it wasn't historically correct. If I remember correctly it was made right after 911. America is known to put out "cheerleading" movies right after or during a crisis.I don't like it when it is implied that America is the only good, decent, moral, patriotic country.

If a country doesn't have a product that America wants , it won't officially help. There are many private citizens that will help, but not the government, especially a republican government.
