does everyone have a drawer in their kitchen that has become known as the Junk Drawer?how do you keep it organized? or is that why it is called the Junk Drawer - because odds and ends are just junked into there?I took inventory in my kitchen this morning and it appears that I have no less than 4 junk drawers, and I rarely open any of them, makes me wonder how important any of this JUNK is necessary to have.

I don't have a junk drawer. We are quite organised here since it is not a "new" family. After all, I am already how old. We have locations for everything. No dump-it-all junk drawer.

I am the same as you only every room in my house has a junk drawer.lol I have thought many times of throwing the whole bunch out but remembered every time I clean one out within a few days i need the stuff I threw out,I can't figure this as it will sit there for weeks and be never needed until I throw it out(go figure) so have decided I guess I'll just have to live with them. My hubby is always going around throwing stuff out and then looking for it later.

I think that is the reason we have all ours - the mentality of "we may need it later" and being so frugal at heart we do not want to chance needing something later on and not having it..... there is a bit of exhilaration when something comes up being needed and you say AHAH!!!! I have that already... augh, but then to be able to find where you have it! so we go out and buy it anew anyway. not too frugal on our parts, lol.

It's great to know that somebody else has a kitchen junk drawer, I suppose not many people would want to tell you that. I shifted a couple of months ago and had 2 junk drawers in my kitchen, I went through and chucked out a lot from these 2 drawers, but somehow they have come back in pairs as now my new place has got kitchen junk drawers. Where on earth does it all come from, and why does everyone have to leave the "I might need it" in the kitchen drawer, why not somewhere else.

I do have a junk drawer in the kitchen and in my bedroom closet. I have been working on the bedroom closet drawers and have found things I forgot I even had. LOL I loaded up the trash too with things just taking up space. I know i need to be more organized but maybe one day I'll get there.

Yes, every home I have ever been in has a junk drawer. My parents have a junk drawer and I always grew up with having one, LOL! Just as soon as you throw that junk out of the junk drawers you will find a reason to have it, it never fails. I did that once and I threw out some electrical tape and my husband threw a fit!

Yes we have 2 draws in our kitchen cupboard one is for all the little odds and ends like scissors and those kind of things that we need in the kitchen, while the other has pieces of paper that have been put into some books with different kinds of recipes on them. So I have been checking it recently so that I can sort this out to a more readily order.

I have 3 junk drawers, unfortunately! I try to organize them, but when my hubby and kids start messing around in them, they are a mess again. I recently cleaned one out, it didn't want to close, and threw away over half the stuff in it. So I guess I really didn't need to keep the stuff anyhow.

LOL I have a junk drawer and a junk cupboard and a junk room these days. There are two drawers in my kitchen full of random junk and the cupboard on the stairs is also full of junk. I really should clear it all out but every time I try, there seems to be more junk to stash away.

Yes I have one of these in almost every room of the house! Periodically I go round and empty them out and bin most of the contents as like you I only ever seem to go in them to squeeze something else in. However you can guarantee the day after I clear them out I need something I have thrown out!

Your talking my language. I have three junk drawers in my kitchen and some people would say I have 4 but one is for my cooking and baking utensils. You know how that goes. You buy them because you think you will use them and you rarely do; so it does seem like anothe junk drawer. I tried to leave a comment on your picture but it says you have to be your friend. Good topic!

I have 2 such drawers that contain everything from pencils and pens, to paperclips, screwdrivers and leftover bread tie wrappers. I have tried to clean them up...and have even dumped the drawers, keeping only the tools and such, but to no avail, they get junked up in a few short weeks.

i do not have any junk drawer. of course ,there is a drawer which can not be called a junk drawer coz all the items kept in that drawer are somehow useful though they are not in use regularly other day a fuse of my electricity meter box had blended and when after a frantic search i failed to spoth a copper wire i abruptly got an idea to rummage through the drawer to get one and lo i got it. so, i do not think we must use the word junk for such drawer

I have a junk drawer also in the kitchen, we all need one. I also have a junk drawer in my bedroom. My 2 yr. old grandson loves to go thru it, he tells me he is looking for treasures. Neither of them are organized.

I have several junk drawers in my kitchen. One is for my husband and I don't touch it, as he put samples that he gets from fast food places in it and has them from many places plus keys that he doesn't know what they open. Once I bagged them by places and he was upset that I touched his drawer, so I haven't touched it again. One drawer is for my daughter and stores fast food samples also, but its an organized drawer with sections for different types of stuff that she wants to keep. Personally, I wish nails weren't in the kitchen and a small wrench, but she can store anything in it. My two drawers have uncut coupons and many labels from packages. I need to file them and that is what I should be doing now. The proofs need to be trimmed and sorted by brand.

oh god yes.there's no organization in ours, short of most of it's tools, like hammers and phillips' heads. the drawer is so heavy,it's hard to open. i keep bringing spare tools downstairs to the basement, but somehow they keep ending up back upstairs.

I have 2. One is full of manuals for kitchen devices I may or may not still have, as well as cords, batteries, candle holders, pens, etc and the other is full of little kitchen do-dads, soy sauce packets from chinese take-out, fortune cookies (see former), birthday candles (most are broken), a tennis bracelet my ex gave me that needs to be fixed. I should sit down and get heartless with it this weekend. It's 3 years worth of accumulation and a lot of times you need to kind of reorganize before you can even close it!
